Alejandra Martinez, science teacher from Memorial Junior High, is one of three secondary teachers chosen for a 6 week internship at the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics. The interns will be working to assist project investigators with blueprint revisions of their Earth Science Curriculum; creating scaffolding notes for the activities in each unit, carrying out the alignment of the units with the Next Generation Science Standards, updating web pages for each unit, and helping to plan and deliver a meeting for instructors who will be implementing the blueprints in 2014-2015.
In addition to the blueprint project, interns will be partnered with a research scientist or PhD-level graduate student to ensure exposure to, and integration of, UTIG research efforts into their geoscience practice. In December of 2014, Ms. Martinez will travel to San Francisco to attend the American AGU Fall Meeting to deliver presentations about her experience working with on the DIG Texas Instructional Blueprint Project.
Congratulations Alejandra, and Good Luck!
