After reading a story about a young boy who expressed his ideas and concerns to his city council in an effort to have them pass a city ordinance, Glass Elementary's 5th grade Falcons discussed our most recent city ordinance on plastic bag bags.
The students had some serious concerns and ideas in order to make the ordinance more citizen and consumer "friendly".
They decided their voices needed to be heard in an effort to improve this ordinance. Students were asked to write a letter to the mayor expressing their concerns and ideas about this new city ordinance.
They practiced one of our civic duties and were surprised with a personal response from our mayor.
The Falcons have already begun practice as committed and involved citizens and they are all grateful for their visit from the mayor.
Way to go Falcons!
