EPHS Student Council held its officer elections on Friday March 3, 2017.
Student Council elections allow the student body an opportunity to develop their civic responsibilities and experience the democratic process. Elections also test the candidates to see if they have what it takes to lead the mighty EPHS Student Council.
Candidates are required to fill out an application, engage in a week of campaigning, go before the council and present their platform as well as participate in a Q&A session. On the day of the election the candidates have to address the student body and make a campaign speech on the PA system during announcements. Afterwards, they have one last opportunity to campaign and garner votes.
These trials and tribulations are meant to prepare the officers to become stronger and tougher and be ready for the challenges that they will encounter in their year in office.
