October is National Book Month and students in Mrs. Mercer’s English IV classes at Winn celebrated with style.
Students were encouraged to check out a library book and make extra time out of their busy senior year to read.
The reading activity culminated on Tuesday, October 30th in a special Book Talk where students were broken into groups to discuss their reading.
As they presented to their classmates, students engaged in avid discussions about their books of choice.
Students talked about the main characters, conflicts, and about what they liked and disliked about the books they read.
The purpose of this activity was to engage students in the practice of reading and talking about what they read.
At the end of the day, when the students agreed to read their classmates books, the purpose was served.
Great job, Seniors! Continue building your success through reading.
Go Mavericks!
