The Seniors in Mrs. Mercer’s English IV class at Winn High were introduced to the epic poem Beowulf.
As students read, they were able to identify the elements of the epic poem and analyzed the impact that these elements have on the poem as a whole.
To conclude the reading, last week the students were assigned with the task of creating a shrinklit poem, which is a summary of Beowulf in poem format.
The students worked vigorously to complete the task.
Students presented their poems on Monday, October 1st and Tuesday, October 2nd. The poems ranged from humorous takes on the epic to more serious approaches.
Overall, Mrs. Mercer was pleased with the result of her students’ hard work.
