Winn's Students Take Charge

Thursday, October 4th, students in Miss Cruz's English 2 Pre-AP classes at CC Winn were broken into groups and assigned to research specific topics to build background knowledge on their next reading unit. 
Topics assigned included Franklin D. Roosevelt's Biography, Executive Order 9066, and Japanese Internment Camps. 
Using Google Chromebooks issued out to by the English Department Head, students were able to complete this research. 

The students took charge of the lesson and provided engaging presentations for their peers to take pre-reading notes on. 
Students included videos and some even dressed up to help prepare and build background knowledge for the literary pieces inspired by Executive Order 9066 to be analyzed in class. 
Students were able to draw connections to other impacting historical events and historical figures.
