On Saturday, October 25th, the Maverick Debate
Team traveled to Burnet High School to compete in the “Tournament That
Teaches”. Twenty nine participating schools competed in seven speaking
events. Paola Garcia-Zuazua competed in
Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate; Luis Contreras & Adriana Ibarra competed in
Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate; the team of Adrian Gonzalez/Issac Turribate
competed in Varsity Cross Examination Debate; the teams of Francisco Becerril/Alberto
DeLaCruz & Eric Chavarria/Juan Ortiz competed in Novice Cross Examination
Debate, and Stephanie Martinez competed in Informative Speaking.
Placing first in Novice Cross-Examination Debate was the
Maverick team of Francisco Becerril and Alberto De La Cruz. Placing third in Novice Informative Speaking
was Stephanie Martinez.
