For over 11 years now, C.C. Winn Student Council has worked diligently to create a festive and warm environment at their adopted retirement community, more commonly known as the Centenario (on Main Street next to HEB). They visit the facility the first week of every month and decorate the doors and lobby according the holiday or season.
On September 5th, Student Council members, visited the elderly at the Centenario with handmade paper arts and crafts. The 3rd period Leadership class colored, cut and pasted together over 100 festive cacti to be placed on each resident’s door. To truly get into the celebration of 16 de Septiembre, StuCo also hung up colorful flags and tissue paper flowers around the downstairs lobby and staircase.
This month StuCo had approximately 65 members volunteering to help bring happiness to the patrons currently living at the Centenario.
Student Council would like to encourage others to choose a nursing or retirement home and take some time out to complete a project with the elderly around our town, as we have so many facilities with residents who would love the company or small gesture.
