C. C. Winn Music Program in conjunction with the Maverick Band Boosters organized what they hope is the beginning of a new Maverick tradition, the first Maverick Band Senior Banquet.
Friday, May 18th, the band seniors, their parents, C.C. Winn Band Directors, Mr. Ruben Rodriguez, Jr., Alejo Garza, Robert Rodriguez, Jose Raul Perez, Guard Instructor, Mr. Carlos Vela, Memorial Band Director, Mr. John Munoz, and members of the Maverick Band Booster all gathered at the SAC to highlight the achievements and future goals of each band senior.
The keynote speaker was none other than Head Band Director; Mr. Ruben Rodriguez, Jr.
Mr. Rodriguez spoke about leadership and hard work: qualities exemplified by the seniors through their academic and extra-curricular activities and their ability to balance school, band, work, and life in general. Students were awarded for their years in band and applauded for their achievements such as being in the top 5% of their class, winning captions and competitions, and so forth.
Special recognition was given to the three drum majors, Christina Gloria, Cesar Rodriguez, and Matthew Uriegas, as well to the members of Winn Guard for their State Championship win.
Winn Guard members Jovanna Ibarra, Alondra Herrera, Cesar Rodriguez, and Laura Rivera were recognized by their instructor, Mr. Carlos Vela for their dedication and leadership.
The C.C. Winn Music Program is extremely proud of the Class of 2018 and wishes all graduating seniors the best of luck in their post-high school futures.
