Welcome to ECC'S ZEN DEN!
Thursday, May 17th, in Mrs. Elam's classroom at ECC, the students listened to Mozart while working on puzzles.
They ended their day with a mindfulness/meditation technique.
Researchers have found when Mozart was played to young children, it helped improve their listening skills, concentration and self-discipline.
The three basics of what puzzles do for your child:
- Physical skills -- from holding puzzle pieces and turning them until they fit
- Cognitive skills -- as they solve the problems of a puzzle
- Emotional skills -- they learn patience and are rewarded when they complete the puzzle
While research regarding mindfulness practices for children is still at an early stage, initial results point to potential benefits in children’s ability for self-regulation.
Developing an ability to focus attention is an essential skill that can aid in kids’ relationships, school, sports, music and other areas of life.
Way to be proactive ECC!
