The students in Mrs. Olivares-Wuestes' 3rd period Leadership class at Winn have been working on their speaking skills every week all year long with an activity they call "Talkative Tuesday".
This project has the student leaders practice standing at a podium, presenting in front of the class, and holding discussions about various hot-button topics that affect students every day.
Every week also follows a different theme and time requirements that the students have to talk for.
Tuesday, April 30th, in accordance with the Hispanic Heritage celebratory Cinco de Mayo holiday, the student leaders were asked to answer a variety of questions touching on border-life topics.
Students brought in personal accounts of growing up in a predominately Hispanic community, and discussed their opinions on various topics touching on news-worthy current events.
Saturday, May 4th, Eagle Pass native, Xorje Olivares, aired the student interviews and tape recordings on his nation-wide broadcast on XM Radio!
