On Jan. 30th, Mrs. Rankin, the district health service coordinator and her team of nurses, alongside Cardinal campus nurse, Mrs. Sandra Velazquez, held a successful vaccination clinic at San Luis Elementary. The vaccination clinic was to address the health needs and concerns for 6th grade students and provide parents with information on the importance of vaccination. Texas law states "every child in the state shall be vaccinated against vaccine-preventable disease caused by infectious agents", so as a means to protect 6th grade students, the following three types of vaccines were offered: Tdap, Meningococcal ACWY, and the HPV.
