Friday, May 4th, Memorial Junior High had two very special visitors.
Board Trustee, Jorge Barrera, and Mr. Jorge Flores are both Memorial Junior High alumni and are now engineers that are bettering our community!
Mr. Jorge Barrera runs the Eagle Pass Water Works system and Mr. Jorge Flores is an engineer at the water works system.
They both spoke to the students about the importance of math and science and how those subjects open many doors in college.
They also discussed what it takes to be an engineer.
They explained what engineers do and the many different types of engineers there are.
Both covered their educational background (Mr. Barrera - A&M, Mr. Flores - Texas Tech) and why they chose to be engineers.
Mr Barrera also touched on why he ran for the EPISD Board of Trustees and how his mission is to help students throughout the entire district.
MJH would like to thank Mr. Barrera and Mr. Flores for taking time out of their day and visiting with the Mavericks!
