For the two weeks leading up to the scheduled Author's Visit form Mrs. Guadalupe Garcia McCall on Friday, April 27th , students from Winn High school prepared to meet the author by participating in an author study.
As the CC Winn students and faculty prepared to receive Mrs. McCall, each grade level created different projects based on the poems from her book Under the Mesquite.
All of these projects were put in cabinet display for her to see during her visit here at CC Winn and to show her how she inspired many students at Winn through her amazing novel of perseverance through great adversity.
All students studied the imagery and poetic devices that were found in her poetry.
Students were given the option to create canvases, select traditional Mexican-American recipes and cook them for their class, and posters.
Staff and students really appreciated having the honor of hosting a Mexican American author who is originally from our own town of Eagle Pass, Texas.
