Friday, July 20th, 19 students from EPHS and Winn competed in the 8th annual TRIO research symposium at UTSA.
TRIO is proud to announce 2 students placed high honors in the individual category.
Jose Fernandez earned 1st and Martha Cerda nabbed 2nd place.
This duo was tasked to present their research in front of a panel and audience and had 3 minutes to present their findings.
Jose won a $150 scholarship!
They competed with over 20 other students from San Antonio, Uvalde, Crystal City and surrounding areas.
Even though, the group as a whole did not place, TRIO program is extremely proud of all of their students.
As a reward for their hard work, the last week of July they took a field trip to the Grand Canyon.
If students are interested in becoming a TRIO member they can talk to their counselor who can refer them to the TRIO retention specialist at your school.
