While expository writing is highly encouraged in every English I classroom as preparation for STAAR, reflective writing can be another great tool for students to use to explore their perspectives on a topic.
Wednesday, March 27th, in combination with poetry analysis of Robert Frost's Two Roads Diverged, Mrs. Torres- Hernandez' students at Winn wrote a short reflective piece on choices they've made that were difficult to decide at first.
Students were only allotted a few minutes, but nonetheless were able to write something of meaning to them. Mrs. Torres hopes students carry this idea into their writing on STAAR: writing about topics we are knowledgeable of always makes for a deeper more interesting essay in the end.
Good job Mavs!
