EP's 'most outstanding' boxer of the year!

Congratulations to Benavides Bulldog Diego Sadivar for being EP's 'most outstanding' boxer of the year! Way to go Diego!

The following story can be found on https://www.epnewsleader.com/post/10-year-old-boy-named-ep-s-most-outstanding-boxer-of-the-year:

Local 10-year-old athlete, Diego "Tin Tan" Saldivar was named most outstanding boxer of the year 2019. Tin Tan trains at the Eagle Pass Youth Center formerly known as the Eagle Pass Boys & Girls Club.

He started fighting approximately two years ago and won the 60-pound category of the Jr. Olympics Regional Championship of South Texas in Laredo, Texas.
This year he brought home a victory in the 11 and 12 year old category in the Laredo Gloves tournament championship.

His boxing record is 18 wins, 6 losses, and is expected to have a brilliant future ahead.

Longtime Eagle Pass boxer and trainer Alfonso "
Poncho" Mallen stated that Tin Tan's style is unique, "What can I tell you, I can't predict anything because I don't know God's plans. You see that a lot of people from Eagle Pass, Piedras Negras and many other parts have seen that they are going to be world champions and they don't make it and not because they are not good if not because it is not within the plans of God, and excuse me but I believe in that. But in my personal opinion I think he has a lot of talent and only woes to continue working and how he is still at a very young age and if he does not loosen, get bored and/or nothing happens in the future, he has a lot of opportunity to achieve something in amateur and professional. My plans have always been to achieve a national or world title in amateur because that way they will open the doors for professionalism. "
