Eagle Pass Independent School District has partnered with local
businesses throughout our city to highlight the Teacher of the Month program,
which honors educators who have made a difference in our community. The program
recognizes outstanding kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and high school
teachers in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Mrs. Elsa Recio, of Robert E. Lee Elementary has
been selected as May Teacher of the month. She is a dedicated educator who for
many years has demonstrated passion for her chosen profession. Her motivational
strategies are ongoing. She motivates her students in the classroom, motivates
all the students in rallies, and uplifts her colleagues and parents alike by
being proactive and positive. She is a leader on her campus and in the
district. Going the extra mile is
synonymous with her name. She is often found staying afterschool, creating
additional activities with her team to further promote success for the
students. She has a strong connection with her students and parents through
consistent communication. Often times,
she goes beyond by talking to parents in the evening after work to facilitate
conferences for them. Mrs. Recio’s
students admire and respect her. She wears many hats that help her students
identify with her. She is a teacher, a counselor, a friend, and most of all, a leader
to them. She instills leadership roles with her students. She is very giving
and instills these traits by motivating her students to participate in Candles
for Life, Pennies for Patients, Piggy Grams for the Stockshow, and Food/Toy
Drives. Her academic expectations are at a 100% at all times. She is a
multi-tasker that utilizes strategies that are customized for her
students. Such strategies include, but
are not limited to, Total Physical Response, Chanting, Chunking, District
Initiatives, Use of Charts and Graphs, Hands-On, etc. Optimal
success in the classroom and in society are Mrs. Recio’s goals. “Help yourself
and help others” is her motto. Mrs.
Recio’s positive outlook is contagious. She emits positive energy and is always
smiling and giving of herself. She can be seen on Ivision and Facebook
motivating students at rallies. She
instills problem-solving, promotes technology and commitment to tasks. Robert
E. Lee Elementary and EPISD salute Mrs. Recio for her dedication and
determination for student success!
A segment will appear on iVision
throughout the month of May detailing many more accomplishments
of Mrs. Recio. This month she will also appear on community
media, news publications and the EPISD website throughout February 2016.
