EPHS Explores Symbolism

Monday, March 25th, Ms. Vargas' English I class at Eagle Pass High School completed their exploration of James Hurst's "The Scarlet Ibis".
In “The Scarlet Ibis,” love and pride war in Brother's motivations to help Doodle; his love encourages kindness, but his shame at Doodle's failings results in the cruelty that kills the younger boy.
As a way to cap their lesson, the students were tasked with creating foldables that depicted the various examples of symbolism in the short story.
Examples ranged from the vase to the tree.
