World Down Syndrome Day is annually observed on March 21 to raise public awareness of Down syndrome, a congenital disorder caused by having an extra 21st chromosome.
On this day, people with Down Syndrome and those who live and work with them throughout the world organize and participate in activities and events to raise public awareness and create a single global voice for advocating for the rights, inclusion and well being of people with Down Syndrome.
Since this day falls during EPISD Spring Break, Memorial Junior High decided to ring in the day early to celebrate their Mavs!
Friday, March 15th, the Mavs wore crazy socks to celebrate their very own Down Syndrome Day!
Crazy socks celebrate the differences and MJH celebrated fully as they also had commemorative shirts and Student Council decorated the campus.
Go Mavs!
