On September 11th, the students in Mrs. Castillo's first grade class at Benavides spent the morning learning about the importance of Patriot Day and the tragic events that occurred 18 years ago.
They also talked about the men and women that risked their lives to help save others on that day and the special qualities that made them a heroes.
They then worked on a writing activity on what qualities make someone a hero.
