Tuesday, September 25th, the students in Miss Byrne's Chemistry class at Eagle Pass High School worked together to demonstrate physical and chemical changes.
In groups, the class conducted a lab where they were tasked to find evidence that supported their claim of whether a physical or chemical change had occurred.
Physical properties can be observed without changing the type of
matter.
Examples of physical properties include: texture, shape, size, color,
odor, volume, mass, weight, pH and density.
Chemical changes are changes substances undergo when they become new or
different substances.
To identify a chemical change look for
observable signs such as color change, bubbling and fizzing, light production,
smoke, and presence of heat.
