September 23rd and 24th, students in Miss Cruz's English II Pre-AP class at CC Winn finalized and presented presentations based of off their assigned novel, "To Kill a Mockingbird".
Students were tasked with researching a historical topic which included Jim Crow Laws, KKK Origins, The Dust Bowl, The Great Depression, etc.
Students were able to find the connection between their chosen topic and their novel's plot.
Pre-AP students also chose between different themes found in their novel (fear, racism, gender roles, innocence, etc.) and explained to their classmates how such themes related to the novel's characters, plot development, and to other themes explored.
Their teacher was blown away with the level of complexity and effort portrayed in these projects.
These Mavericks now have another piece of knowledge they can refer to when choosing examples to help build their argumentative essays.
