It is tradition that the CC Winn Student Council President and Reporter give the "Welcome" and the "Prayer" at the beginning of every Maverick home football game.
This year, junior, Samantha Cardenas holds both positions and titles, therefore gave both speeches at every home game all football season.
Sam was the C. C. Winn Reporter last year, and therefore had only one year of public speaking experience for the school.
This year she rose to the challenge to hold the responsibilities of two officer positions and is the primary speaker for the Student Council.
"It has been my honor and privilege to address our Maverick fans, traveling guests and players almost every Friday night. It is something I'm going to miss, and I only hope to get this position again next year as a senior," Samantha said.
Friday, November 2nd was the Maverick's last home game of the regular season, as well as their Homecoming game.
"I tried to target any alumni who were joining us for the night as well as the seniors who would be taking their last lap around the stadium in their senior walk at the end of the game. I always tried to focus my quotes and prayers on what was specifically happening on the field for each game, and it is something I'll miss preparing for and doing every week," Samantha said.
Student Council would like to congratulate Sam on a job well done and look forward to hearing her start off every home game next season!
