C.C. Winn High School is proud to announce that Brenda Carrillo, WHS Science teacher, matched to Texas Tech Health Sciences Center Paul L. Foster School of Medicine on Friday, February 8th. Brenda was the 2011 C.C. Winn Valedictorian, as well as a Gates Millennium Scholar.
While at C.C. Winn, she was part of the National Honor Society, Band, and UIL Spelling and Vocabulary.
She went on to study Bilingual Elementary Education at the University of Texas at Austin.
While at UT, she discovered a strong passion for science.
She finished her education degree in three years, but remained at UT two more years to complete the prerequisites for medical school.
WHS fortunate to have Ms. Carrillo back as their GEAR UP site coordinator and then as one of their teachers.
