Monday, February 25th, Mr. J. Silva's Criminal Justice classes at CC Winn learned the importance of Emergency Response Planning.
The students were taken to the Texas Department of Public Safety's Communications Command Post "ALAMO" where they met with Texas DPS Captain J. Bentancourt, Texas Division of Emergency Management, and Communications.
Captain Bentancourt provided the Mavericks with a tour detailing the responsibilities of organizing and coordinating a rapid emergency response.
DPS also informed students of the importance of communication and how intelligence is gathered and disseminated throughout DPS and other federal, state, and local agencies.
Students learned that the goal of Emergency Response Planning is to establish and maintain procedures, plans, resources, and roles to ensure lives, reduce property loss, and lessen liability.
WHS would like to thank Captain J. Bentancourt and the entire Texas Department of Public Safety for the continuous support in assisting CC Winn Criminal Justice.
Go Mavericks!
