WHS Goes Green

March 26th - 27th, CC Winn's National Honor Society’s Environmental Services Committee collected recycled paper and plastic bottles from the classrooms.
Teachers were given recycling boxes to keep in their rooms to collect any recyclables. Volunteers were asked to help and gather the recycled materials around the campus.
The Committee collects the recycled materials every other week.
Committee Chairperson, Adolfo Jimenez, has recorded over 2 tons of recycled paper!
Each ton (2000 pounds) of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space, 4000 kilowatts of energy, and 7000 gallons of water.
This represents a 64% energy savings, a 58% water savings, and 60 pounds less of air pollution!

NHS asks for everyone to recycle and take care of our community.
Together we can all make a difference!
Go Green and go Mavericks!
