EPISD Summer GT Presentations

Wednesday, June 26th, the EPISD Summer GT Program hosted their Gift and Talented Science Fair to their peers and campus administration.
The students worked hard for several weeks to prepare for this great event!
The students had a great time presenting about the various concepts like  code, animals and algorithms.
Students presented to them through posters and projects. 
The Summer GT Staff would like to thank EPISD Superintendent Mr. Gonzalez for joining in the celebration and helping demonstrate some concepts.

EPISD Bilingual Summer Program Stop, Drops, & Rolls

Wednesday, June 26th, EPISD  Bilingual Summer Program only had fire safety on their minds.
The active students in Mrs. Salazar's class had a great time learning about fire fighters and how to stop, drop, and roll.
This activity helped them continue developing their oral language skill through music and song.
The summer program is coming to an end soon, but the students will bring their groovy moves until the last day!

Wednesday, June 26th, EPISD  Bilingual Summer Program raced to learn!
The active students in Mrs. Morales' class had a great time playing musical chairs while learning their new vocabulary words.
The summer program is coming to an end soon, but the students will bring their groovy moves until the last day!

Wednesday, June 26th, EPISD G.T. Science and Technology Summer Program hosted their Science Project Fair at Glass Elementary and found great success!
Supervisor, Mr. Leija would like to thank all his summer school staff and volunteers for an extraordinary job well done with the students.
The success is definitely attributed to their hard work this summer!

Thursday, June 20th, EPISD  Bilingual Summer Program got crafty!
The active students in Mrs. Morales' class had a great time playing Number Bingo!
The students were able to use their knowledge of the numbers 1 - 20 to identify if they had the number on their cards.
The students are determined to learn to the best of their abilities even during their summer time!

Tuesday, June 25th, the EPISD  Bilingual Summer Program had a blast during their Music lesson.
The active students at Glass loved being able to sing along with their peers in preparation for their big closing ceremony on Thursday, June 27th.
They are making every minute count as the big day inches closer and closer.

EPISD Bilingual Language Acquisition Summer Program Takes Flight

Monday, June 24th, the EPISD  Bilingual Summer Program fine journeyed to the great outdoors in the name of learning!
The active students in the program at Glass had a great time going outside to continue their lesson in transportation.
The students created paper airplanes and flew them in the yard.
They then discussed what exactly helped the planes fly!
The students are determined to learn to the best of their abilities even during their summer time!

EPISD Bilingual Summer Program Earns Tens Across the Floor

Tuesday, June 25th, EPISD Bilingual Summer Program continued their 1st grade prep!
The active students in Miss Avalos' class had a great time reviewing story problems using ten frames and manipulatives.
Students were able to identify key words and solve by counting counters in their ten frame cards. 
All students had fun working with their classmates and practicing their English language skills while reviewing math.

EPHS Student Hosts Free SAT Tutorial

Saturday, June 22nd was not just an ordinary day for Eagle Pass High School Senior Edwin Pua Jr.
Saturday marked the beginning of his free E=MC2 math camp!
Edwin would like to thank all the students that attended the camp on its 1st day.
His vision is to really help students get better SAT math scores, ACT math scores, and maybe create opportunities for everyone towards college scholarships.
Edwin stated how heartwarming it is to receive support from administrators, teachers, parents and students.

E-MC2 will continue with new set of topics and lessons on Saturday, June 29th.
Edwin would like to thank all the English, Science and Math teachers at Eagle Pass High School for preparing him to succeed!

For any tips on taking the ACT, please don’t hesitate to ask Edwin, he’ll be happy to help!

RVLA Bids Farewell to Superintendent

Thursday, June 6th, RVLA hosted a farewell luncheon for Superintendent Mr. Gilberto Gonzalez. 
The Little Giants treated him to a delicious meal and a great motorcycle lamp.
Mrs. Pang-Villa and staff would like to wish Mr. Gonzalez a Happy Retirement and thank him for all he has done to better EPISD!

It's a Zoo at EPISD Bilingual Summer Program

Monday, June 24th, EPISD  Bilingual Summer Program continued their discovery of their new vocabulary words.
The active students in Mrs. Villegas' class utilized abstract thinking while figuring out a way of creating a cage with a piece of butcher paper, scissors, and tape. 
The students collaborated with their peers to brainstorm a way to complete the challenge! 
After a while of thinking and trying ideas, the students were able to create a cage and lock hungry cheetahs, bears, lions, and monkeys in their cages! 
Learning new vocabulary can always be fun!

Friday, June 21st, the EPISD  Bilingual Summer Program culminated a great week of learning!
The active students in the program at Glass had a great time going working throughout the week on fun projects that built comprehension.
The students were happy to go outdoors and discover their surroundings, as well as work on cut and paste activities as a group
The students are determined to learn to the best of their abilities even during their summer time!

BP Visits EPISD Bilingual Program

Monday, June 24th, Border Patrol agents made an awesome presentation at Kennedy Hall during the Summer Program!
The students were reminded to say no to drugs and were made aware of various types of drugs that they need to stay away from. 
EPISD Summer Bilingual Program would like to thank Border Patrol for visiting with their students and presenting such valuable information!
Our students are having a great time during their time at summer school!

EPISD Bilingual Summer Program Calls All the King's Men

Friday, June 21st, EPISD  Bilingual Summer Program got crafty!
The active students in Mrs. Ritchie's class had a great time with their Nursery Rhyme unit and discovery of Humpty Dumpty.
"Humpty Dumpty" tells the tale of an egg falling and how no one can put him back together!
The students created their own Humpty Dumptys and were then asked to write how they would put him back together.
Way to go!

Friday, June 21st, the EPISD  Bilingual Summer Program fine journeyed to the great outdoors in the name of learning!
The active students in the program at San Luis had a great time going outside to celebrate all that they had learned that week.
The students were happy to discuss with one another what they had learned and then go outside to play with bubbles!
The students are determined to learn to the best of their abilities even during their summer time!

Bilingual Language Acquisition Summer Program Finds Hero

Thursday, June 20th, EPISD  Bilingual Summer Program fine tuned their presentation skills!
The active students in the program at San Luis had a great time learning about what exactly makes a hero.
The students were able to use their newfound knowledge to create their very own essays and presentations on what they believe makes them their very own hero.
The students even donned their own mask and cape in honor of this assignment!

EPISD Bilingual Summer Program Blasts Off

Friday, June 21st, the EPISD Summer Bilingual program at Kennedy Hall blasted off into learning!
Mrs. Botello’s and Instructional Aide Mr. Vielma's theme unit is space and to capture the essence of this concept, their students had a rocket launch.
Students followed a series of steps in order to complete their rocket project and put it to the test. 
They also had to color, cut, and tape a smoothie straw to the rocket.
The students then had to predict what would happen if the rocket was launched inside the classroom and outside of the classroom. 
They made sure take weather into consideration!
When the rocket was put to the test, the students inserted a much thinner straw into the smoothie straw in order to blow air into it and have it take flight.
The students learned about the force they had to use in blowing and the position in which to place the rocket in order for it to launch in a certain direction.
The students also discovered that launching their rockets inside was a bit different than outside because of weather conditions. 
The students experienced a breezy morning when outside so they came to the conclusion that weather is very important and that it makes a difference when launching a rocket.

EPISD Bilingual Summer Program Sets Up Camp

Friday, June 21st, EPISD  Bilingual Summer Program brought the outdoors indoors!
The active students in Mrs. Villegas' class had a great time applying their recently learned vocabulary words in class.
The students split into groups and with flashlights in hand, they set up camp in their make-shift tents in the middle of their classroom. 
Mrs. Villegas' students are determined to learn to the best of their abilities even during their summer time!

Friday, June 21st, EPISD  Bilingual Summer Program stepped up to the plate!
The active students in Mrs. Villegas' class had a great time going outside to play Vocabulary Baseball.
The students split into 2 teams and raced from base to base only after correctly identifying one of their vocabulary words.
Mrs. Villegas' students are determined to learn to the best of their abilities even during their summer time!

The active students in Mrs. Salazar's class had a great time with their read aloud of "El Collar de Margarita".
"El Collar de Margarita" follows young Margarita as she learns her family's trade of jewelry making.
The students were able to use what they learned in the read aloud to create their very own beautiful necklaces!

Thursday, June 20th, EPISD  Bilingual Summer Program fine journeyed to the great outdoors in the name of science!
The active students in Mrs. Villegas' class had a great time going outside to predict various weather patterns.
The students were happy to conclude that there was no sign for rain and used the nice weather to play!

EPISD Bilingual Summer Program Promotes Reading

EPISD Bilingual Summer Program Supervisor, Mrs. Knapp would like to thank her summer school Librarian, Mrs. Magallon and Librarian Aide, Mrs. Gonzalez for all they have done to promote literacy with the students.
These dedicated awesome teachers have been working diligently with the Pre-K and Kinder students in the program.
They have worked to build on literacy, as well as oral language skills.

EPISD Bilingual Summer Program Puts on a Show

EPISD Bilingual Summer Program Supervisor, Mrs. Knapp would like to thank her summer school volunteers for showing up every day throughout the summer program!
These dedicated high school students have attended the program daily and put on great puppet shows for the Pre-K and Kinder students. 
These girls have amazing puppeteer skills that the children look forward to and absolutely love!

EPISD Summer Program Preps Feast

Thursday, June 20th, the EPISD Summer Bilingual program at Kennedy Hall had one tasty morning!
The students in Mrs. Elam and Mrs. Gonzalez ‘ class made their very own piggy pancakes. 
The class cooked up a batch of piggy pancakes as an extension of their class theme of "Me and My Family" and their family story of the week "The Three Little Pigs". 
 Cooking with kids can help:
Build basic skills. You can help your child hone basic math skills by doing something as simple as counting eggs or pouring water into a measuring cup. ...
Encourage an adventurous palate. ...
Help young kids explore with their senses. ...
Boost confidence.
The kids really loved their piggy pancakes and had a great time learning the steps!

Silverline Shines at Camp

June 16th - 18th, the 2019 -2020 WHS Silverline Dance Officers kicked off their season with terrific two day camp in Galveston, Texas with dance legends, American Drill & Dance.
ADTS trains dancers to join together to celebrate their talent and love of dance.
Silverline was introduced into a grand world of amazing choreography and technique.
The girls were also treated to leadership exercises and technical choreography!
There were over 100 girls at camp and Silverline shined bright and earned many distinctions.
As an Officer Line the girls earned Division I on all their evaluations, was awarded the Gussie Nell Davis Officer Team of the Week, and Diamond Super Sweepstakes.
Individually they all received red and teal outstanding achievement ribbons and pink exceptional achievement ribbons. 
Captain Eunice Cabrera was named Outstanding Performer and Ximena Perez made the All American Dance/Drill Team.
Bianey Villasana was awarded the ADTS Scholarship and received All American Honorable Mention.
Silverline Director, Mrs. Villarreal and Assistant Director, Mrs. Mercer applaud their officers' hard work and are eager to continue this amazing work throughout the year.
Congrats girls and good luck next year Silverline!

EPISD GT Summer Camp Blows Up

Friday, June 13th, EPISD GT Summer Camp ended week 1 with a bang!
The active 3rd grade students were eager to expand their knowledge on gas and chemical reactions.
The students explored this concept by inflating a balloon using baking soda and vinegar.

EPISD GT Summer Camp is Explosive

Friday, June 14th, EPISD GT Summer Camp's 2nd grade students ended a fantastic 1st week of enrichment activities.
The active students had a week of fun-filled projects like water bottle volcanoes, earthworm discoveries, Father's Day canvases, and flip books.
They also completed an All About Me worksheet that listed some of their favorite things.
