C.C. Winn is very proud to announce that the Thundering
Maverick Band placed 1st place at the Judson Rocket Review Marching
Festival on October 7th. On top of that, the Maverick Band outdid themselves at the Capital
City Marching Festival in Austin garnering: 1st place Best Guard, 2nd
place Best Percussion, People’s Choice Award with over 300 likes on the
festival’s live streaming, and 1st overall in their division.
The band and guard would like to thank the community of
Eagle Pass for all their support on October 7th, although the well over 1,000
likes weren’t credited due to time restrictions, their support on Facebook meant
a lot to all the members of the band.
The band would also like to thank the
staff at Winn, the band directors and secretary, and, of course, all the
parents that cheered for them both in Austin and at home.
The Maverick band is under the direction of Mr. Ruben
Rodriguez, Jr., Mr. Alejo Garza, Mr.
Roberto Rodriguez, Mr. Jose Raul Perez, Mr. Jorge Vargas, and Mr. John Munoz.
Guard Instructor is Mr. Carlos Vela and band secretary is Mrs. Anna
Martinez.
Maverick drum majors are seniors:
Matthew Uriegas, Christina Gloria, and Cesar Rodriguez.
