Congratulations to Mrs. Yvette Valdez: November Teacher of the Month

Eagle Pass Independent School District has partnered with local businesses throughout our city to highlight the Teacher of the Month program, which honors educators who have made a difference in our community.  The program recognizes outstanding kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and high school teachers in Eagle Pass, Texas.
November's Teacher of the Month is none other than Graves Elementary's Yvette Valdez. A 25 year teaching veteran, Mrs. Valdez has been a mentor to many of her school's excellent teachers and has inspired many students throughout her career. Teachers have learned the importance of patience, understanding, and student motivation from her. Her greatest lesson has been that a teacher's enthusiasm and assurance is key to ensuring student success.
Mrs. Valdez' dedication and love for teaching is one to be recognized. Under her leadership with the 5th grade team, Graves has been able to maintain consecutive high ratings in state assessments. Mrs. Valdez' excellent teaching skills are commendable, but what really sets her apart from the rest is her beautiful and kind disposition to her students. She is a teacher that cares about the students' insecurities and problems. Most importantly, she is always there to support her students no matter what. She is approachable, not only with her students but with her campus as a whole. Over the years, many college students have come back to personally thank her for making a lasting impact on their lives. That is the truest sign of a teacher that goes above and beyond!
Mrs. Yvette Valdez works tirelessly every day to create a challenging and nurturing environment for her students. Her strong commitment to teaching, compassion towards her students, and devotion to creating life-long learners make her an EXCEPTIONAL educator. For all these reasons and more, Mrs. Valdez is Teacher of the Month.
A segment will appear on iVision throughout the month of November detailing many more accomplishments of Mrs. Valdez.  This month she will also appear on community media, news publications and the EPISD website throughout November 2017.  A teacher will be selected each month through May 2018 for a total of eight (8) honorees.  The “Teacher of the Month” will be chosen based on educational achievements in the classroom, community contributions and innovative programs and techniques used by the teacher. The “Teacher of the Month” will receive a certificate of recognition and will be featured on iVision, local media news, news publications and radio broadcasting.  Additionally, each “Teacher of the Month” will receive donations from local businesses.

Each T.O.M is receiving a “V.I.T (Very Important Teacher) Parking Pass”, a jean voucher for a month, 20 free meals at the Campus CafĂ©, and Class Cash to purchase class room supplies.
