Wednesday, September 5th, the C. C. Winn English Department attended an ESL training presented by Region 20 Representative Maggie De Los Santos.
The training consisted of an intensive review for the ESL Endorsement Certification Exam.
The information that was presented covered the three domains that consist of Language Concepts and Acquisition, ESL Instruction and Assessment, and the Foundations of ESL Education, Cultural Awareness and Family and Community Involvement.
Armed with the information received, these teachers are now ready to better serve the LEP population in their individual classrooms.
Since the LEP population is not confined to only English classes, it is essential that teachers from all content areas prepare to better serve this special group of students across the district.
In an effort to comply with the needs of their campus, teachers at Winn High, Mrs. Selina Martinez (CTE) and Mr. Hector Leija (US History) are seeking ESL certification.
Winn High School appreciates the effort that these teachers are making to address the needs of the Eagle Pass Independent School District.
