October 29th - November 2nd, the students in Mrs. Flores’ English II class at C.C. Winn High School finished reading the play, 12 Angry Men, by Reginald Rose.
The students were assigned a project to assess their understanding of the characters.
The play focuses on the the jury deliberation between 12 jurors as they analyze the case of a 19 year-old boy who has been convicted of murder.
The students had fun representing the characters, and acting out each scene.
They were asked to draw a visual for each of the 12 jurors, the old man, the woman, the father, and the son along with their own description of each character, a symbol for each one, plus a citation to prove their point.
Students got creative by decorating the cover of their mini-booklet.
This is a great way to improve reading skills, since students have to go back and look for information needed to describe each character.
They got to practice STAAR strategies in a fun and engaging way!
Mrs. Flores would like to congratulate all her students for working hard on this activity.
