Monday, November 12th, C.C. Winn High School’s third period Leadership class started off the week with their Every Monday Matters initiative.
Students were separated into groups where they were asked to create a mascot for their team and a motto to go along with it. However, this activity came with a few twists and challenges that were based off the Leadership topic of the week, “Communication is Key.”
The students only had ten minutes to complete the task they were assigned.
For the first five minutes, they were only allowed to use one hand and keep the other held behind their back, posing for a few difficulties with their motor skills.
They had to rely on each other to help cap and uncap their markers, hold and move the paper, and even brace themselves while leaning in close to each other on the desks.
For the next five minutes, an additional component was added: they could no longer talk to one another!
Students had to somehow come to an agreement and design the rest of their projects in complete silence.
The students learned that the smallest and simplest things can hinder your progress when you remove basic communication.
