Monday, September 17th, after learning about physical and chemical reactions in matter through a series of lectures, the students in Mrs. Perez' Chemistry class at CC Winn were given the opportunity to put their newly acquired knowledge to the test.
The Mavericks conducted a laboratory investigation in which they observed the difference between physical and chemical changes.
Through the experiments conducted, which included mixing of solutions, students were able to identify chemical changes through the formation of yellow precipitate, production of a gas, heat and light given off, and change in color or odor.
Evidence of physical changes resulted in dissolving of substances.
Mrs. Pérez was pleased with the work that students put forth in conducting this experiment as mastery of the unit was evident.
