Friday, September 14th, the students in Mrs. Cardenas' class at Graves Elementary had an eventful visit to the school science lab.
The Tigers were excited to visit the new and improved lab, as well as conducting their first experiment.
Students were tasked to classify matter based on physical properties including relative density.
They found this by using the floating egg experiment.
In this experiment, the egg will sink in regular tap water because the density of the water is less than the density of the egg itself.
Adding salt to the water increases it's density making it more dense than the egg.
Therefore the egg will float in the salt water.
Go Tigers!
