November 5th - 9th, Mrs. Salinas' AP Literature and Composition classes at Eagle Pass High School wrapped up their study of Kate Chopin's novel, "The Awakening".
"The Awakening" centers on Edna Pontellier and her struggle between her increasingly unorthodox views on femininity and motherhood with the prevailing social attitudes of the turn-of-the-century American South.
It is one of the earliest American novels that focuses on women's issues without condescension.
Students took ownership of the class by volunteering to lead the daily discussion and analysis.
