Students in Ms. Cruz' English II Pre-AP classes at CC Winn were asked to write an essay defending whether it's better to work in a group or individually.
Students brainstormed the issue with a partner, researched facts to defend their position independently, and were placed in to two groups.
Friday, March 8th, students debated the issue at hand and were judged by a set panel of judges to pick a winner.
Winning group was picked using a debate rubric which assessed preparation, examples presented, counter arguments, etc.
Students were able to see what is acceptable and what is not when it comes to writing a persuasive essay.
Debate Winners for Ms. Cruz' 2nd period included Janell Guerrero, Amalio Corral, Laysha Madrid, Raven De la Garza, Arturo Molina, and Samantha Molina.
Debate Winners for Ms. Cruz' 4th period included Alexis Godines, Esmeralda Suarez, Stacy Morales, Marlene Falcon, Claudia Cervantes, Sergio Hernandez, and Luis Rodriguez.
