CC Winn's Debate Team of Noelia Flores and David Gonzalez qualified for the 2018-19 University Interscholastic League 5A State Cross Examination Debate Meet on Saturday, February 9th.
The duo are headed to the University of Texas at Austin on March 22 and 23rd to represent their school at State! This feat was accomplished in five rounds of debate against a field of seven other teams at the District 28-5A CX Debate tournament at Medina Valley High School.
The team of Flores and Gonzalez were awarded first place in the tournament, going undefeated with a perfect record of 5-0.
Noelia Flores also tied for top speaker awards with a speaker from Medina Valley.
They will share the gavel award for District 28-5A this year.
This is the second year that the team of Flores and Gonzales have qualified as the first place team representing District 28-5A in the state meet.
Expectations are high this year that they will break to the final 16 teams and participate in day two of the tournament, with a possibility of earning top honors at the state meet.
They are under the direction of Mr. Randy Laurence.
WHS wishes them luck as they prepare for the last step in this year's debate season.
